Pastors's Message

Foolishness

The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning. Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips. Proverbs 14:6,7

It seems in recent days that fools are speaking publicly to display their foolishness. Whether it is a man who claims to know when the Last Day will occur, or a powerful man who think he can abuse women, fools are so evident. It is easy to sit in judgment over such people. They have made public their wrong actions and attitudes. We know they are wrong by the laws of our country or the Word of God. To see their mistakes as sin happens only because God has already revealed His judgment against them in the Bible. We are told in the verses above to avoid such people.

There is so much of this wrong belief, conceited and dangerous attitudes, and abusive actions in our culture. How can we be so uncaring, so willing to put our desires above what the Lord clearly tells us is the righteous way of life? Haven’t we learned from past mistakes so that we don’t repeat the same errors? Evidently not.

When we look only at the wrong actions of so many people, it becomes easy to be depressed. In the midst of so much foolishness, can we find anything to be happy about? God says a resounding “YES!” He tells us, “knowledge comes easily to the discerning.” We can learn from our past experiences, even from the past mistakes of other people. The more we live in God’s righteousness, the easier we add to our knowledge of the best way of life. By the grace of God, we do learn knowledge. By the grace of God, we are forgiven for our past mistakes. Jesus Christ took our sins of attitude, of words, and our actions to the cross and there He put to death our sins.

So what will we focus on today, the bad news and foolishness of yesterday or today? How about focusing on the work of Jesus that forgives us and renews us. We know that God has taken away our guilt and added our names to the Book of Life. Let’s focus on the Good News!

Glad to be in Christ’s service,
