Pastors's Message

Order

The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin. Proverbs 10:8

How well do you respond to orders? At almost every stage of life, we receive orders about behavior, responsibilities, and expectations. As babies and children, we need to be trained. When we begin working, our employers give us orders about our duties. It is our nature that we need order. Can we exist without God’s authority in our lives? Only for this short life, and not very well at that. The following story illustrates that we must be trained or we will return to our sinful nature.

A cat fell in love with a handsome young man, and asked the Lord to change her into the form of a woman. The Lord consented and transformed the cat into a beautiful young woman, but also told her she would need to behave as a young woman from that time on. he young man saw her, loved her, and took her home as his wife.

While the young couple sat in their living room, the Lord desired to discover if the cat in her change of shape had also changed her habits of life. He sent a mouse into the room. The woman formerly a cat, saw the mouse, jumped off the couch, and chased the mouse with the intention of eating it. The young man was very shocked to see his beloved bride holding the mouse by the tail close to her open mouth. Upon seeing the look on his face, she dropped the mouse and flushed red with embarrassment.

How should that story end? I will let you write your own ending. We all need to remember that the Holy Spirit has changed us through our baptism into Jesus’ death and resurrection. We have been given a new life that is to reflect our connection by faith with Jesus Christ. To go back to old sinful habits is out of place for us now. Pray that the Spirit will train you with the Word to live with Jesus now that you may live with Him forever.

The source of this story is unknown.

Glad to be in Christ’s service,
