The members of our congregation take the responsibility of telling others about Jesus, the Good Shepherd, very seriously. They also realize that there are always many good people who find themselves in need of spiritual or physical help. In addition to the support given to LCMS missions through regular contributions by members, the following activities also contribute to the mission goals of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Life Notes Life Notes is a short radio program produced by Pastor Hansen about daily life and the difference that living with Jesus Christ can make. It is sponsored by Good Shepherd and is aired at 9:05 - 9:10 a.m. every Sunday morning on KWMT 540 AM. Individual members frequently sponsor the program in memory of a loved one or in honor of a birthday or anniversary. LCMS World Relief As described on their web page, worldrelief.lcms.org, "LCMS World Relief is the disaster relief and long-term self-help arm of the Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod. LCMS World Relief enables God's people to actively demonstrate His love, grace and compassion to people in need in the United States and internationally by responding to their immediate needs and enabling them to become self-sufficient." The support of LCMS World Relief by Good Shepherd is mainly through the Dorcas Circle whose projects include the collection of layettes, clothing, soap, school kits and other supplies for those in need. Tapes for Shut-ins The worship services are taped each weekend for use by shut-ins. Volunteers make copies of the tape and other volunteers deliver them to the shut-ins. There are currently about eight shut-ins using this service. Members who are in need of the service should contact the church office at 515-573-3174 or send an e-mail to goodshep@frontiernet.net. Lord's Cupboard The Lord's Cupboard is a community organization in Fort Dodge which provides non-perishable canned and boxed foods as well as personal items such as soap and paper products to people who are temporarily in need of help. Contributions are collected in a basket at the back of the church and delivered to this organization. Members of Good Shepherd who wish to make monetary contributions do so directly to the Lord's Cupboard at the First United Methodist Church office, 127 North Tenth Street. Iowa District West Missions As a member of LCMS Iowa District West, Good Shepherd also supports the following mission efforts of the district.
