As a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, Good Shepherd considers the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. (II Peter 1:21 Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost). God tells us in the Holy Scriptures that man is a sinner, both by nature and by deed. No one can contribute toward saving himself based on his own "good" works. Our only hope for eternal salvation is Jesus Christ, whom we believe is the Son of God and the Savior of the world.

3:23 All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God), (John 3:16, 17 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent His Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him). Christ put His Church in the world so that everyone might have eternal life in heaven by turning from their sins and trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal salvation. (I Timothy 2:4 God will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.) Therefore the obligation of our Church is to:
